Coming back strong from their races at Portland Fall Classic, the MV4+ began the chase after two UW boats, and holding off UO for the duration of the race. Congratulations to Jacobe Sell and Myles Hollowed, who came in first in the M2+. The MN8+ gave a strong performance, wrapping up the fall racing season just in time for winter training to begin.
Seattle U Men’s Crew squared up in the 2013 Portland Fall Classic in the MV4+ and the MN8+ boats. The varsity boat had a strong chase, and the novice showed competitors they were a force to be reckoned with. We look forward to seeing many of the same team on the water at Head of the Lake 2013!
After two practices Seattle U Men’s Crew had their first regatta on their home course. Jacobe Sell and Myles Hollowed raced the pair while Matt Sneed and Declan Connor-Boyle raced in a double in the chase style Head of the Troll Regatta. Jacobe and Myles had a strong showing in their first race in the pair. Matt and Declan, in their second day of sculling, finished without flipping or crashing into any other boats or walls. Both boats were pleased with their performance and enjoyed being back in competition, leaving them excited for the upcoming season.
The next regatta will be the Portland Fall Classic on October 27th, which will be the first for incoming novice rowers. We are always accepting new rowers and are excited for the new additions to the team. We will be having information sessions for anyone interested in joining crew on September 25th and 26th as well as October 9th meeting at 6:00P.M. at the Bellarmine Turnaround on Seattle University Campus.
Seattle University Men’s Crew is looking for tall, strong, and/or athletic men to join the rowing team and compete across the country in the oldest intercollegiate sport and defend our national championship title. Not tall, strong or a man, but still want to be an athlete? Men’s Crew also needs guys and girls with big personalities who aren’t afraid to take command to be coxswains! SU Men’s Crew is a very successful and competitive club rowing team that will keep you fit and push your limits like no sport has before. Don’t be intimidated to join if you have never rowed before, the team’s coaches will teach you the rowing technique and other skills necessary to succeed at rowing. In fact, 50% of the US Olympic Men’s 8+ learned to row in college! So take a chance to push yourself to new heights and check out SU Men’s Crew.
If you are interested in joining the team or want to learn more about rowing, email Jacobe Sell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Official! Men’s Head Coach Doug Short named Treasurer of the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA)!
Congratulations to Dan Harrison and Chris Schultz as national champions! M2x- with a great performance in grand finals, and an impressive performance from MNL W4+.
